Abstract |
Background. The paper investigates the structural and functional features of organization of the photosynthetic apparatus of different potatoe varieties in order to clarify the relationships of anatomical and morphological and physiological characteristics of the plants, as well as their impact on the value and quality of the crop.
Materials and methods. The research was carried out on potato plant varieties of “Matushka”, “Tescha” and “Batja”. The organization of the photosynthetic apparatus at the leaf level was considered on the basis of an analysis of its mesostructure. The pigment content was determined by spectrophotometry. The photosynthesis intensity was determined by photoelectrocolorimetry.
Results. It has been established that the mesostructure of the photosynthetic apparatus is closely related to the physiological characteristics of potato varieties studied. The studied varieties were comparatively analyzed by a complex of anatomical and morphological and physiological characteristics, as well as by the productivity index.
Conclusions. The special organization of the mesostructure influence the physical processes in the plants. The scale and quality of the potato crop depends on varietal characteristics of the plants, especially the organization of the mesostructure of the photosynthetic apparatus and the intensity of physiological processes.
